Award for a Lasting and Outstanding Contribution to Materials Science and Engineering for 2017

 

The Executive Board of the MRS-Serbia is proud to announce the competition for the Award for a Lasting and Outstanding Contribution to Materials Science and Engineering for 2017.

 

The Award for a Lasting and Outstanding Contribution to Materials Science and Engineering is awarded to the most distinguished scientists for their overall scientific achievements which have contributed significantly to the advancement of this areas of science, the enhancement of university teaching, education of young scientists and upholding the reputation of the Materials Research Society of Serbia. Eligible candidates for the award include scientists from the territory of the former Yugoslavia, as well as scientists of Serbian origin worldwide, involved in research in the area of materials. The award is given to an individual.

The right to nominate candidates for the award is held by the members of the Materials Research Society of Serbia (eligible nominations shall be supported by at least five members) and the Executive Board of the MRS – Serbia.

Nominations shall be explained in detail and contain information about the scientific (list of scientific papers) and professional (list of national and international patents, specifically stating those that have been implemented and their financial effects) merits of the nominee, as well as the number of their technological solutions (measured by their economic effects).

The award nominations shall be submitted to the Secretariat of the Materials Research Society of Serbia. The competition shall be open for entries for 45 days since the announcement.

Submitted nominations will be evaluated by a seven-member 2017 Expert Committee: Prof. Dragan Uskokovic (President of MRS-Serbia), Prof. Robert Sinclair (Chair of YUCOMAT Conferences International Advisory Board), Dr. Slobodan Milonjic (Vice-President of MRS-Serbia), Prof. Danilo Suvorov (Member of YUCOMAT Conferences International Advisory Board), Prof. Dejan Rakovic (Vice-President of MRS-Serbia) and Prof. Dr. Ivan Bozovic, 2015 Laureate, and Prof. Dr. Gordana Vunjak-Novaković, 2016 Laureate.

The Expert Committee shall deliver their decision and proposal within 30 days after the closing of the competition. The decision shall be published on May 1 on the website of the MRS – Serbia.

The award consists of a diploma signed by President of the MRS –Serbia.

Award (diploma) shall be delivered to the laureate at the Opening Ceremony of YUCOMAT 2017 conference by the Chairperson of the Executive Board of the MRS – Serbia or a person appointed by the Executive Board. Upon receiving the award, the laureate will give a lecture on a relevant topic in the area of materials science and engineering.
